2012 Kids Events

Saturday, September 8

    • Snakeheads and More Aquarium Exhibit – Giant aquarium display full of notable fish including a bunch of notorious snakeheads, invasive blue catfish, largemouth bass, white perch, perhaps some yellow perch and other interesting Maryland species. (provided by The Maryland Department of Natural Resources)
    • Horseshoe Crab Exhibit – DNR’s Aquatic Education team will be on site with juvenile horseshoe crabs to see and touch as well as helpful information on where to go to learn from and about the great outdoors. (provided by The Maryland Department of Natural Resources)

  • USTA SmashZone Mobile Tour – SmashZone Mobile Tour engages audiences by introducing them to the game of tennis in a fun and interactive way. Children will have the opportunity to play tennis games and have a racquet in their hand from the start. SmashZone Mobile is a complement to the USTA’s ongoing youth participation initiative, 10 and Under Tennis. 10 and Under Tennis is part of an effort to encourage young people across the country to get moving and start playing tennis. The 10 and Under Tennis initiative is geared towards getting more kids to participate in tennis using modified equipment and courts tailored to a child’s size. By featuring shorter and lighter racquets, slower-bouncing balls, smaller courts and simplified scoring, children learn to play more quickly and easily while having more fun in the process. 10 and Under tennis link
  • Entertainment Avenue – Inflatable Moon Bounce House, obstacle course and Slide
  • Face Painting, Henna, and Tattoos – Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Crystal Looney’s Creative Arts

In the event the child ever goes missing this info is given to the local police to be used in an Amber Alert. These kits are endorsed by the International Union of the Association of Police, Nationwide.
