All Participating kids in costume get in free!

Parents will be responsible for identifying their children as parade participants at the front gate and must present adequate proof of participation to entrance gate personnel upon arrival at the festival.

Every participating child will receive a free gift at the conclusion of the parade. A Grand Prize will be randomly selected from Entry forms at the conclusion of the event.

Photographs will be available for a nominal fee... but parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and are allowed to escort their children during parade.

Costume your kids in a nautical theme, be it a mermaid, crab or pirate or whatever) and be part of our second annual Mermaid Parade. Our goal is to have a fun and friendly event that will contribute positively to your parent/child experience and enhance the family-friendly atmosphere of the Maryland Seafood Festival.

The Parade takes place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 12. Deadline for registration is 2 p.m. on the day of the event. Total parade time is approximately 30 minutes.

What is an acceptable costume?

This year’s parade will feature a nautical theme to correspond with the MSF focus on the Bay and fun that can be had on and around the water.

We encourage Mermaid costumes for the girl entries, but that is not mandatory. We endorse creativity, the use of props, masks, and costuming that is age appropriate and in good taste. We discourage the use of makeup (defined as lipstick, rouge/blush, eye shadow, eye lashes, and eye liners). Exceptions may be made on the basis of appropriateness to the costume, but the decisions of festival officials will be final. (There are several bathhouse facilities on the Festival Grounds for participants to change in and out of costume.)

Any Other Rules?

Parents/Guardians are responsible for monitoring and maintaining positive and nonabusive behavior before, during, and after the Parade event. The Festival reserves the right to dismiss participants (parents and/or children) from the vent if such behavior is observed.
